Last class the issue of my characters not really looking like they're supposed to be in my backgrounds came up and it's really opened my eyes! I loved (and still do love) the idea of my backgrounds being watercolor-y but still having my cartoony character, but after animating a few shots, they don't really coexist as well as I thought they would (even after dropping the saturation of my characters so they're more pastel). I did a lot of tests to combat this (as seen below. I'm leaning towards just lightening the outlines of my characters to a more brown color (at least for Sandy- I didn't do any tests for the boy D: uh oh). But ye- it's smart to think about this now instead of making the whole film and not loving it. I assumed I'd somehow fix the issue in "post" but I had not plans to do that so it's good to knock it out now.
