At the end of last semester, I was practically done with finals, and I really wanted it to be summer. So I drew a lil beach girl. She was fun to draw for a while, but, to add a bit more dimension to her, my sister suggested making her out of sand. I quickly fell in love with that concept and thought of a whole story for this sand girl, who I call Sandy.
For her story I wanted to keep that longing for summer in mind, but since she is a kid I want to add in elements that are nostalgic for me. I want the older audience to feel like a kid again while watching this and reminisce on summers spent at the pool (or beach in this case) having fun and hanging out with complete strangers who you would quickly become best friends with. I also want there to be an actual story to it that is fun and wholesome.
For the actual animation, I'm set on just 2D right now, but I want to stay open minded about other mediums. It would also be fun to not have any actual dialogue and show a lot of emotion in expressions and body language.
I'm feeling pretty good about this project right now. I think it'll be fun for me to work on, but I know it'll be overwhelming once it starts. (Still hoping for the best though!)
Ye, here's Sandy concepts post sand-ification :)
