This week has been about getting inspo and making concept art, so I've started to try to grind some stuff out!
I feel really stuck on Sandy's design. I REALLY love it, so its been hard for me to try out different variations. Even testing out different swim suit colors, I fell back to a color palette very similar to the original one.
After doodling some expressions, I moved onto background and color key concepts.
Nothing feels more "summer-y" to me than the bluest sky you've ever seen in your life, so of course I need that to be in my film. But I also have to keep in mind Sandy's colors so that she doesn't clash with it. Hence why her blue swimsuit has become a little greener on the bottom image. I just wanted to take into account the contrast in shades with Sandy, her suit, and the background. And this isn't going to be lineless or anything but I know it's good practice to have contrast between character and their setting.
The color keys were very fun for me. Most of the film is probably going to be that bright, saturated key towards the left, but I was considering different tone shifts to go along with the story. Those were pretty fun, and definitely something I want to make more of!
